Tasting Notes
COLOUR Crystalline pale salmon pink. NOSE Very refined, light perfume with strawberry cream, musk and fresh rose petal with a hint of mandarin and apple pie crust. PALATE Super light, fresh and musky with a well-balanced soft texture. A slight salty core and a crunchy lightly chalky finish.
Winemaker Notes
Shiraz is picked earlier at lower baume to help retain some acid and deliver freshness & fruit purity. Oxidatively handled as juice and then fermented under cool conditions using specially selected organic yeast to produce a wine with a textural and savoury complexity. No oak was used in this wine to preserve the primary fruit purity.

Vintage Notes
2022

A cool, winter-like spring saw vine growth delayed in development. Rainfall in October was significant. A dry and warm summer, with sustained warmth day and night through December, January and February, possibly influenced by another La Niña season, saw a rapid ripening period for all white varieties, with all vineyards harvested in little over a month. Fruit quality was excellent with surprising delicacy and elegance. A low yielding vintage, primarily due to spring conditions over the past two years. Warm and rapid veraison for reds in early February was ideal and saw the Cabernet’s desirable ripe flavours pronounce themselves quickly. Vine health remains fantastic, with fruit quality high and flavours concentrated.

    The Real Review

Winemaker Virginia Willcock makes this properly dry style rosé from shiraz grown on the estate vineyards. No oak is used. The colour is a very light shade of salmon pink—very pretty—and the bouquet is inviting: savoury, talcy, chalky—happily not all shrill fruitiness. The taste is light and dry, again savoury rather than grapy, a very more-ish, appetising style of rosé.
