Angus Hughson Features TOM CULLITY in 10-Year Retrospective

Following the tenth vintage release of TOM CULLITY, acclaimed wine writer Angus Hughson has published a feature reflecting on a full vertical of the wine, spanning 2013 to 2022. His article offers another insightful perspective on a decade of dedication to the legacy of Dr Tom Cullity and the pioneering vineyards of Vasse Felix.

Hughson highlights the unique character of the estate’s historic vines, noting that TOM CULLITY is “a benchmark wine for the region, for which every element of both viticulture and winemaking has been painstakingly considered. Vasse Felix strives to make the best of what nature has provided, balancing respect for the terroir and vintage with an eye toward the great Cabernet Sauvignons from around the world.” He also reflects on the fascinating vintage variation across the ten years: “From lighter, more ethereal renditions in cooler years such as 2019 and 2017, to denser, more structured wines from 2016, 2018 and 2020, the vertical captures both the individuality of each season and the consistency of the estate’s vision.”

We’re thrilled to see TOM CULLITY recognised in this way, celebrating both its history and its enduring presence as one of Margaret River’s most age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

"...Blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec without other varieties is a little unusual from a global perspective, but it reflects the property’s most historic plantings and speaks to Vasse Felix’s confidence and vision in forging their own path..."
