HEYTESBURY Chardonnay among the world's greatest - London wine fair 2026

On the eve of International Chardonnay Day, Vasse Felix was honoured to see the 2020 HEYTESBURY Chardonnay recognised among the Top 10 Greatest Chardonnays of the World at the London Wine Fair 2026 Icon Tasting: The Greatest Chardonnay Showdown.

A global celebration of Chardonnay, this benchmark tasting brought together some of the world’s most revered Chardonnays from both classic and emerging regions. Judged blind by 18 of the UK wine industry’s most influential palates, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers such as Jancis Robinson MW OBE, Dawn Davies MW, Tony Lécuroux MS and Pierpaolo Petrassi MW, the tasting assessed a diverse range of styles from around the globe, including sparkling Chardonnay expressions.

Among an extraordinary international line-up, the 2020 HEYTESBURY Chardonnay was placed second overall, alongside some of the world’s most iconic Chardonnay producers and regions. The result is a wonderful recognition not only for Vasse Felix, but also for Margaret River Chardonnay on the global stage.

The results strongly favoured Australia, with Australian wines taking both first and second place honours. The Top 10 also included wines from Champagne, Burgundy, New Zealand, Italy, Switzerland and England, reflecting the diversity and calibre of contemporary Chardonnay worldwide.

To see Margaret River represented among the world’s finest Chardonnays is both humbling and rewarding. We raise a glass to Chardonnay lovers around the world this International Chardonnay Day.
