The more sophisticated interpretation of this popular Margaret River blend. Made from a selection of our most intense parcels of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon fruit, using intricate winemaking techniques to develop a powerful, textural wine with brooding savoury undertones.
Similar to the previous season, the 2018 vintage experienced cooler than average conditions. Spring and early Summer delivered intermittent cool then moderate weeks before a run of below average temperatures in January and February. Late January rain led to a fear of disease, however a beautiful period of ripening followed with ample sunshine and strong daily sea breezes preserving vibrant fruit flavours and acidity. Our white varieties ripened with ideal sugar levels and high malic acid content for the third year running, resulting in a desire to allow some natural malolactic ferment in our Chardonnays. Meanwhile, the reds ripened slowly and gently through a dry Autumn ensuring fully developed tannins and a slightly riper and fleshier fruit profile to 2017.
This could be the best vintage yet under this label. Subtle spicy barrel-ferment notes combine with intense gooseberry, snowpea, pine and lime fruit aromas, plus fresh herbs, to result in a most entertaining bouquet. A delicious and subtly complex wine.
Bright, ripe and textural white with melon, guava, blackcurrant bud and pineapple flavours. A flavoursome and appealing wine, with a backbone of fruity acidity adding energy and helping to drive a moderately lengthy finish
Very strong herbaceous tones on the nose. Starfruit, Kiwi, nettles and lime. The palate is incredibly juicy and intense, highly fruity in its expression yet with good acidity giving tension. There are also some pleasing subtle oak tones adding to the complexity. Very well-made. Excellent palate depth and breath
An understated expression evocative of classic, everyday white Bordeaux, dominated by sauvignon (82%). Steeped, too, in the understanding that this blend takes on authority, complexity and drinkability with a bit of oak (matured in 48% French oak, 25% new). Delicious and exceptional value. Lemon curd, lanolin, greengage and a cooling menthol note meander around a creamy core of cedary oak. I could drink this every day.
