The signature Chardonnay of Vasse Felix. It is made from a selection of premier Chardonnay parcels from Vasse Felix’s Vineyards in a modern Margaret River style with elegance, power and restraint.
Similar to the previous season, the 2018 vintage experienced cooler than average conditions. Spring and early Summer delivered intermittent cool then moderate weeks before a run of below average temperatures in January and February. Late January rain led to a fear of disease, however a beautiful period of ripening followed with ample sunshine and strong daily sea breezes preserving vibrant fruit flavours and acidity. Our white varieties ripened with ideal sugar levels and high malic acid content for the third year running, resulting in a desire to allow some natural malolactic ferment in Chardonnays. Meanwhile the reds ripened slowly and gently through a dry Autumn ensuring fully developed tannins and a slightly riper and fleshier fruit profile to 2017.

This is a bit of rock ‘n’ roll that performs brilliantly in Vasse Felix’s chardonnay hierarchy. Perfect balance of flavours from grapefruit, lemon pith and delicate leesy-nutty characters with plenty of flint and saline. It’s linear, long and pure, with a riff of acidity that keeps the band together.

Bright, light to medium yellow colour, with an aroma of almond and other freshly-shelled assorted nuts. A very tense, vibrant chardonnay with great flavour and refinement, grapefruity vitality and nervy energy that persists long on the aftertaste.

Another stunning chardonnay from Virginia Willcock. This is high-class stuff. Oatmeal and lemon curd on the nose, with traces of citrus. The palate is sublime. There is texture yet it is held close and controlled through to a very long finish. This was initially tasted late in 2019 and after six months, the deep complex flavours started to be released.

A perfume of white peach and white flowers mingles with complex of lemon zest and ocean rocks. The succulent structure has a mouthfeel of peach, lemon pith and cashews.
