Tasting Notes
COLOUR Brilliant straw green. NOSE Cool vintage thistle and peppermint characters are supported by traditional lemon/lime freshness, ginger spice and a hint of paw-paw richness. PALATE Crisp tropical fruit and tangy citrus flavours dominate the entrance and mid palate, while the mouth-watering acidity supports excellent length. The finish is soft and delicious, yet super clean, making for a wonderfully versatile white wine.
Winemaker Notes
WINEMAKER'S NOTES Semillon's citrus and floral notes are complemented by the tropical passionfruit aromatics of Sauvignon Blanc. These varieties are picked at reasonably low Baume, capturing fine high-note aromas, crisp primary fruit flavours and good acid structure. The Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc juices are then fermented under cool conditions using specially selected yeasts to ensure the varietal characters are accentuated. This wine was fermented without the use of oak for pure fruit expression.

VINTAGE DESCRIPTION

2017 was a cooler and later vintage than the previous 10 years; a year of elegant, perhaps slightly lighter bodied wines, though ripe in flavour, vibrant and very perfumed. Higher than average yields in combination with a cooler season contributed to delayed ripening of the fruit and good acid retention. Some timely warmth and sunshine occurred throughout January, although February temperatures remained moderate with some rainfall. With the cooler weather, canopy management and fruit thinning was imperative to mitigate disease pressures and allow for even, persistent ripening. There was a warm start to March to finish the white harvest, followed by the driest April since 1982, finishing the reds beautifully.

    James Halliday's Top Value Wines Feb/March 2018 & 2019 Halliday Wine Companion

A semillon/sauvignon blanc blend, the colour a bright pale green. Some deft winemaking has made the flavour and structure of the blend greater than its parts. Guava, gooseberry and passionfruit ex the sauvignon blanc are braced by grassy/lemony semillon and its acidity.

    The Real Reveiw

A widely available, affordable drop not to be overlooked. The classic combination of semillon and sauvignon blanc creates a blend with depth and freshness, and the early harvesting of the grapes gives the wine engaging energy and vibrancy. A well-balanced white to always have on hand for whatever the occasion.

  • Perfectly made; good to drink.

    The Wine Front

Margaret River blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc. Easy as you like. It's light-ish, elegant, squeaky clean and fluid. The flavours flow gently but persuasively through the palate and while there's never any great intensity to point to its continues admirably on through the finish. Perfectly made; good to drink.

    Home Beautiful - Liz O'Connell

The Margaret River blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon is as West Australian as a blinding hot day at the beach. It's crisp and fruity all at once, with lovely notes of summer citrus and guava. Serve this classic very cold with fun and festive friends. (2016 Vintage)
