1998 Cabernet Sauvignon

The decade of the 90’s has been extraordinarily kind to Vasse Felix with a string of consistent vintages starting from 1990.

Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon has won a trophy or gold medal at wine shows in the past three vintages. The 1997 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon won 1 trophy, 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals in recent wine shows.

The Winemakers and Viticulturist at Vasse Felix have continually refined the Cabernet Sauvignon with better canopy management on 30 year old vines; judicious use of irrigation (sometimes no irrigation at all); fruit ripeness levels; winemaking factors such as clever use of rotary fermenters; barrel fermentation; long skin maceration; tannin management and the use of the best French & American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
Very deep and lusciously coloured, this wine promises a lot and delivers a heady aroma of cedar, mocha, cassis and chocolate. The palate is finely tuned with sweet blackcurrant and spicy vanillin oak. This is elegant and multi dimensional with powdery tannins balancing the sweet intense fruit. Able to be consumed immediately and paradoxically has the intensity of fruit to age for up to 15 years.
