The signature Chardonnay of Vasse Felix. It is made from a selection of premier Chardonnay parcels from Vasse Felix’s Vineyards in a modern Margaret River style with elegance, power and restraint.
Moderate spring conditions at the end of 2016 helped establish a healthy fruitset and better yields than the previous two seasons. January temperatures were warm, interrupted by one rainfall event late in the month, great viticulture management, clean, well-trimmed canopies and subsequent warm weather prevented disease risk. White varieties were harvested throughout February with elegant flavours and bright natural acidity.
The Vasse Felix is a stunning wine, up there with the best they have made in this range. It is without question one of the best-value wines around.
Light straw-yellow colour. The wine opens with a smoky note whether from oak or sulfides or both, and the longer it's in the glass, the more the pungent grapefruit powers through, together with lovely floral notes and spicy oak touches. The wine is intense on the palate and quite concentrated, with mouth-filling richness and firmness to close. A terrific chardonnay, especially at the price.
One of the West's top set of chardonnays, this is the core, middle range flanked by the Filius and the famed Heytesbury. A mighty fine chardonnay fan's chardonnay.
