Vasse Felix Founder Dr Tom Cullity spent over a year searching throughout Margaret River for the perfect plot of land to plant his first vines. Every vintage since has allowed the Vasse Felix team more discovery into viticulture and winemaking in this special part of the world.
In 1999 researcher Dr John Gladstones proposed Margaret River could be classified through six ‘sub-regions,’ defined by their distinct topography, micro-climates and natural water catchments. Vasse Felix has vineyards within three, namely Wilyabrup, Karridale and Carbunup.
The best suited grape varieties have been matched to each sub-region. Within the vineyards, specific rows and blocks have been planted to correspond with topography and soil type.
